We have an exciting opportunity for a DPC Environmental Strategy Manager to join the Regulatory Environmental team at Yorkshire Water and help us provide the best service to our customers.

New environmental legislation, investment and changing customer expectations create opportunities within the water industry. Major Projects DPC schemes are part of meeting these expectations. YW's Strategic Resources Options (SRO) function will deliver an ambitious programme of water resources supply-side solution development/implementation to meet company, regional and national water supply challenges. The DPC Environmental Strategy Manager will scope, commission and deliver environmental workstreams supporting the SRO programme, ensuring delivery to time and quality.

Where you fit in

As our DPC Environmental Strategy Manager you will be involved in the following responsibilities.

  • Ensure compliance with statutory environmental considerations and identify opportunities for environmental enhancement through improved design/mitigation/innovation.
  • Identify and coordinate key dependencies from an environmental perspective across the four DPC projects for the Environmental workstream.
  • Lead the DPC Environmental activities: preparing documentation for regulatory submissions including RAPID gateway submissions and Ofwat DPC stages; where necessary, coordinating environmental inputs on SRO projects into Price Review, WRMP and other regulatory submissions.
  • Establish and manage an appropriate governance and assurance process for effective decision making and approvals of DPC environmental activities, aligning with existing YW processes where necessary.
  • Manage risks, issues and opportunities across the environmental activities and wider DPC programme, escalating key risks through the governance process.
  • Be a member of the DPC Leadership team, facilitating regular programme meetings to track progress and escalate decisions related to DPC environmental matters.

What skills & qualifications you will need

  • Detailed understanding of the SRO process and Rapid Gated requirements for environmental components, preferably with knowledge of the All Company Working Group (ACWG) approaches.
  • Experience in developing environmental scopes, both technical and non-technical report writing, and in compiling/quality assuring deliverables.
  • Degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Detailed understanding of UK water policy and environmental legislation.
  • Substantial experience of regulatory liaison and management.
  • Ability to work across teams and business units on a variety of levels.
  • Ability to manage complex stakeholder engagement and find compromise solutions.
  • Positive attitude to problem solving.
