What you’ll do…

Forestry England is actively growing the nation’s forests, planting around 1,000 hectares of new woodland each year to support carbon sequestration and biodiversity, produce sustainable timber, and create resilient landscapes for future generations.

As an ecologist, you could join our fast-paced Woodland Creation team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping the future of landscape-scale woodland expansion.

The role involves supporting the evaluation, planning, and delivery of woodland creation projects across England, ensuring designs meet regulatory requirements and best practices. You will work closely with colleagues and external stakeholders throughout project development and delivery. The successful candidate will provide technical expertise on ecological constraints and opportunities, working on various sites across the country. This is primarily a desk-based role, with some travel across England to visit sites and attend meetings, including occasional overnight stays.

This is a three-year temporary appointment with the possibility of extension or permanency, but no guarantee.

Where you’ll work…

Any Forestry England office. Blended working arrangements will be considered within England.
