Employee Relations Consultant

Location: London (Canary Wharf - 3 days in office)

Estimated End Date: 19/04/2026

This role is to provide expert support and advice to the business divisions and corporate functions across the UK & Ireland. The focus is on effective management of internal and external Employee Relations (ER) matters and related risks (e.g., legal, financial, and reputational). Working within a team pivotal to the organisation, you will advise on workplace matters, help manage employee concerns, and build manager capability and engagement.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the team SME on occupational health management, working with Occupational Health and Permanent Health Insurance providers to ensure early intervention on case management and a joined-up approach to managing and supporting employees on sickness absence.
  • Facilitate employee relations investigations (performance, sickness absence management, conduct, grievance, anti-harassment). Provide advice and support to investigating and hearing managers to ensure a fair and consistent approach.
  • Provide timely and professional advice on ER issues including disciplinary, grievance, performance, absence, and conduct matters.
  • Manage a caseload of ER cases, ensuring accurate documentation and risk mitigation.
  • Partner with HR Business Partners and line managers to resolve employee issues.
  • Ensure compliance with UK and Irish employment legislation and internal policies.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders on employee relations and related matters such as legal, risk, compliance, etc.
  • Support restructuring projects and effectively manage individual consultation requirements.
  • Support the development and implementation of ER policies and procedures.

  • Proven experience working in a fast-paced ER function (Financial services experience preferable).
  • Knowledge of UK and Irish Employment Law.
  • Experience navigating a global organization and matrix structures.
  • Strong sense of teamwork.
  • Excellent communication, influencing, and problem-solving skills.
  • Client Focused.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships locally & virtually.
  • Self-disciplined, with the ability to work alone, with remote management.
  • Strong analytical skills, detail and deadline oriented.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
