Employment Solicitor – Birmingham

Position: Employment Solicitor | Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time

We are a well-established regional law firm with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality legal services across a wide range of practice areas. Our employment team is expanding, and we are seeking a motivated and client-focused solicitor to join us.

Role Overview

The successful candidate will handle a mix of contentious and non-contentious employment matters, advising employers and employees on a wide range of employment law issues. You will work closely with colleagues across the firm, contributing to the continued growth and development of the department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advising on a broad spectrum of employment law matters, including: unfair dismissal, discrimination, redundancy, TUPE, and restrictive covenants.
  • Drafting and reviewing contracts, policies, and settlement agreements.
  • Advising on HR procedures, grievance, and disciplinary processes.
  • Representing clients in Employment Tribunal proceedings, including advocacy where appropriate.
  • Conducting legal research and staying up to date with legislative and case law developments.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, ensuring excellent service delivery.
  • Assisting with business development initiatives and supporting the firm's marketing activities.

Candidate Requirements

  • Qualified solicitor (minimum 2 years' PQE preferred, but all levels considered).
  • Strong technical knowledge of employment law and procedure.
  • Experience in both contentious and non-contentious employment matters.
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
  • Strong client management and communication skills.
  • A commercial and solutions-focused approach.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
