The Engineer/Senior Engineer oversees processing, planning, quality, operation, and maintenance of Waste Water systems to ensure safe and sustainable water services. Responsibilities include managing processes, site inspections, resource alignment, regulatory compliance, and optimizing water network efficiency.
A day in the life of a MUA Waste Water Engineer
- Manage daily operations of wastewater and clean water networks, including connections, sampling, testing, inspections, monitoring, and maintenance, ensuring adherence to procedures and recommending improvements.
- Handle maintenance, faults, and emergencies, coordinating with service providers to improve outcomes.
- Support CRMC clean water processes, routine maintenance, inspections, procurement, and escalation procedures.
- Resolve operational queries from site developers, contractors, and service providers.
- Ensure proper documentation and quality of connections and commissioning documents.
- Maintain compliance with UK water quality standards and regulations, including Ofwat, Environment Agency, and DWI, with accurate records and reports.
- Monitor water quality, implement treatment solutions, and uphold safety protocols.
- Oversee infrastructure maintenance, repairs, and replacements.
- Develop contingency plans for emergencies, supply disruptions, droughts, or contamination incidents.
- Ensure asset management and records are compliant with industry and legislative standards.
- Maintain safety and technical audit records, including asset and construction documentation.
Candidate requirements
- Experience as a Waste Water Engineer
- Knowledge of Non-Conformance reporting, Root Cause Analysis, Inspection & Test Plans, Quality Plans
- ISO 9001:2015 auditing experience
- Knowledge of water distribution networks and construction standards
- Experience managing site inspections and records
