We’re Inventor-e - a fast-growing tech company building cloud-based inventory and asset-tracking solutions that integrate with our own suite of IoT hardware. From manufacturing floors to NHS hospitals, our products keep the world’s operations running smoothly.

We’re in a huge growth phase and looking for a hands-on Engineering Manager to lead a small, senior team - while still spending most of your time coding. This is a true player-coach role, where you’ll write great Ruby on Rails code, guide architectural decisions, and help shape our engineering culture as we scale.

You’ll:

• Lead a senior team (Ruby, Mobile, QA, DevOps) and collaborate with the product team to shape the roadmap
• Coding 60–70% of the time using Ruby/Rails, review PRs, and drive architectural best practices
• Mentor engineers and support their growth
• Run a light-touch agile process (twice-weekly stand-ups, biweekly backlog grooming)
• Keep stakeholders in the loop by translating technical progress into business value
• Help integrate our Rails apps with our hardware solutions

You have:

• 2+ years as an EM or team lead, plus strong full-stack Rails experience
• Solid skills in RSpec, PostgreSQL, and CI/CD workflows
• A growth mindset and proactive problem-solving style
• Experience mentoring engineers and working with cross-functional teams
• Bonus: experience integrating software with hardware
