The Team

KPMG’s Cloud practice is a rapidly growing team of consultants that helps clients transform the way they deliver technology services to business stakeholders. We help the UK’s largest and most complex organisations to develop strategies for cloud adoption, build operating models and architectures, and operate cloud or hybrid estates effectively and cost-efficiently over the long term.

National Security

The National Security sector is a key priority for growth. This role is expected to contribute to that growth.

The Role

Enterprises starting on their cloud journey often face increased complexity. The platform architect must make sense of this complexity and tame it through the thoughtful use of traditional and modern technologies and hybrid processes that address both legacy and cloud environments. A strong knowledge of traditional enterprise landscapes and major cloud platforms (GCP, Azure, AWS) is required, along with the ability to balance different operating models.

Qualifications

Skills, Qualifications and Experience Required

We seek vibrant technical leaders who can communicate with senior stakeholders and manage transformation programs that deliver value, security, agility and efficiency. You will outline the overall technical vision to business leaders and translate it into actionable detail for delivery.

  • Developed enterprise-level technology strategies and defined associated programs of work
  • Experience delivering complex large-scale architectural solutions on cloud or hybrid environments and integrating cloud platforms into the wider enterprise
  • Experience creating a coherent enterprise operating environment without reducing capability
  • Understanding of enterprise MI and near real-time observability for operations
  • Strong knowledge of traditional platform delivery approaches and the major cloud platforms (GCP, Azure, AWS)
  • Ability to balance “one size fits all” vs “landing zone specific” solutions
  • Understanding of different operating models for legacy and cloud environments and contribution to operating model design
  • Experience managing technical reviews of cloud strategy, roadmaps, data models, integration and migration tools
  • Team player with ability to work in diverse teams and motivate others
  • Ideally hold recognised industry qualifications appropriate to the role and seniority

You will be a practitioner as well as a theorist, passionate about technology, credible in front of clients and colleagues, and able to support customers through transformation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide credible thought leadership based on real-life experience
  • Design and build cloud/technology roadmaps, implementation strategies, transformation plans and high-level architecture
  • Provide impartial assessment of cloud strategy and vendor technology proposals
  • Provide insight across technology areas including integration and hybrid hosting
  • Contribute to development of Cloud and Defence Consulting practices
  • Collaborate to maximise use of knowledge and experience
  • Share knowledge through coaching and advising colleagues
  • Develop strong client relationships to understand business problems and identify opportunities for KPMG
