Overview

Carrier Climate Solutions Transportation is seeking an Environmental Health Safety Specialist to support and implement EHS policies and programs to ensure compliance with local laws, regulations, and corporate standards across Scotland and the North of the UK. The role spans field service, sales organization, and business support functions, contributing to Carrier’s mission by creating value through sustainable EHS solutions that protect people, stakeholders, and the environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support and advice on all aspects of occupational health, safety, and environment for UK&I services/projects, and integration of acquisitions, ensuring regulatory, contractual, and company compliance.
  • Collaborate with senior management and other functions to achieve optimal EHS performance.
  • Support Senior Leadership in deploying EH&S strategies and guide operational management on prevention of workplace incidents and illnesses.
  • Promote Lead with Safety commitments and champion EHS as a shared responsibility within the organization.
  • Coach management teams to understand EHS responsibilities and the business benefits of robust EHS programs.
  • Oversee EHS investigations into workplace incidents, identify root causes, immediate and preventative actions, and capture lessons learned.
  • Identify EHS resource needs during project proposal phase based on project role, scale, hazard profile, and technical complexity.
  • Manage prequalification, deployment, and safety performance of subcontractors.
  • Produce and deliver EHS training and development programs.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections/audits and close corrective actions in a timely manner.
  • Provide administrative support for internal EHS reporting systems.
  • Review and update all EHS policies, procedures, risk assessments, and method statements.
  • Produce timely EHS communications in various formats (videos, in-person briefings/presentations, written communications).
  • Support EHS certification renewals.

Qualifications and Skills

  • NEBOSH General Certificate
  • Experience in health and safety in construction, field-based and manufacturing operations
  • Regulatory knowledge of safety, environmental, and other standards relevant to building services and construction
  • Willingness to travel regularly across the Northern and Scottish regions
  • Valid UK driving license
  • Ability to organize, motivate, and drive change; cross-functional collaboration
  • Strong interpersonal skills to influence and build relationships; willingness to learn and develop
  • Proven ability to work in a matrix environment and motivate diverse teams
