Build a brilliant future with Hiscox
Enterprise Portfolio Management Change Lead
Reporting to the Head of Enterprise Portfolio Management
Location: York OR London OR Colchester or Lisbon
The Role
Change will play a critical role in enabling Hiscox to achieve its market leadership position and future strategic ambitions. With an ever-increasing pace and rapidly evolving customer needs, Hiscox needs to ensure that its change portfolio provides a source of competitive advantage and supports the business in achieving its market goals, whilst being delivered in an effective and efficient manner.
As a result, a new Enterprise Portfolio Management capability is being established at the Group level, as part of the Group Operations and Change function. This team will be responsible for improving the strategic alignment and value for money of Hiscox's change investment portfolio. It will ensure that all change activity aligns behind strategy; there is transparency and clarity around change portfolio prioritisation, delivery and outcomes; will drive greater focus on the outcome and value of change; will drive standardisation where it makes sense to drive greater consistency and scalability; and establish a superior change community to enable greater sharing of best practices. It will also help drive the transition of Hiscox to a greater product mindset, culture and outcome based organisation.
This new role present an exciting opportunity to work in the new Enterprise Portfolio Management team, ultimately helping define the 'what' and the 'how' in terms of change execution. The role will lead the creation of new practices, an enhanced Change Delivery Framework and Standards which will assure quality delivery of the Change Portfolio at Hiscox.
This role will be integral to the execution of the EPM Delivery Roadmap and in turn uplifting capability, as it will be responsible for the construct of each delivery Sprint, in addition to ensuring that there is a healthy and well defined backlog of Stories. This role will also have execution responsibilities, in terms of delivering the EPM Roadmap.
Furthermore, the role of EPM Change Partner will support the organisation's Business Planning process, ensuring that the process is continually improved, ultimately with prioritisation, doability and organisational awareness, at the forefront of its execution.
Additionally, identification of Best Practice within Hiscox's Change community will be encompassed within this role, whilst also assessing and prioritising such practices, in order to add into the EPM Delivery Roadmap.
This role requires a structured, critical thinking mind and someone who is excellent at communicating.
Key responsibilities
- Define a new framework for reporting of change initiatives (projects, value streams, change factories, etc) in a common way so insights and actions can be taken
- Lead the creation of a new Change Delivery Framework, working with key stakeholders across the Hiscox business to gather requirements and inputs, ensuring it aligns with local delivery methods
- Perform analysis, define requirements and produce a recommendation on future reporting tools and methods, working alongside the EPM Reporting Analyst on automation opportunities
- Translate and document practices, processes and principles into a newly established policy and standards framework, working alongside Group Risk & Compliance
- Support and continually improve the Change Business Planning cycle, working with the Head of EPM and senior stakeholders to ensure strategic alignment and realistic doability
- Identify opportunities for an uplift in capabilities and determine suitability for inclusion in the EPM Delivery Roadmap
- Lead the coordination of EPM Delivery Sprints, whilst validating and maturing all Backlog Stories
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will bring the following:
- Experience in project or portfolio management roles
- Experience of change delivery frameworks and industry methodologies
- Strong critical thinking and ability to develop considered recommendations
- An aptitude for stakeholder management and engagement
- Solid communication and data presentation / visualisation abilities (excel, power BI, PPT etc)

- Knowledge of change management principles is a plus
- Adaptable and open to ambiguity
About Hiscox
As an international specialist insurer we are far removed from the world of mass market insurance products. Instead we are selective and focus on our key areas of expertise and strength - all of which is underpinned by a culture that encourages us to challenge convention and always look for a better way of doing things.
We insure the unique and the interesting. And we search for the same when it comes to talented people. Hiscox is full of smart, reliable human beings that look out for customers and each other. We believe in doing the right thing, making good and rebuilding when things go wrong. Everyone is encouraged to think creatively, challenge the status quo and look for solutions.
Scratch beneath the surface and you will find a business that is solid, but slightly contrary. We like to do things differently and constantly seek to evolve. We might have been around for a long time (our roots go back to 1901), but we are young in many ways, ambitious and going places.
Some people might say insurance is dull, but life at Hiscox is anything but. If that sounds good to you, get in touch.
Diversity and Hybrid working
At Hiscox we care about our people. We hire the best people for the job and we're committed to diversity and creating a truly inclusive culture, which we believe drives success.
We have also learned over the past few years that working life doesn't always have to be in the office, and now it is safe to do so we have introduced hybrid working to encourage a healthy work life balance.
This hybrid working model is set by the team rather than the business to enable you to manage your own personal work-life balance. We see it as the best of both worlds; structure and sociability on one hand, and independence and flexibility on the other.
