We are looking for an experienced ERP Enterprise Architect to join our Technology team on a permanent basis in London.
Overview
Reporting to the Director of ERP and managing a team of 2 heads, the ERP Enterprise Architect leads and shapes SAP, Publishing and HR transformations that align with business objectives and drive digital innovation. You’ll ensure that SAP, Publishing and HR systems are robust, scalable and effectively integrated to support our growth and operational excellence.
Key responsibilities
- Design and implement ERP architecture solutions to meet the strategic goals of Penguin Random House, ensuring scalability, security, and performance.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to define the ERP architecture strategy and roadmap, aligning it with the overall IT and business strategy.
- Collaborate on SAP, Publishing and HR projects to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance of SAP systems.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to the ERP CoE team and other IT teams, enabling a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
- Work closely with business stakeholders, understanding their requirements and translating them into effective ERP solutions to achieve business goals.
- Manage relationships with external ERP vendors and consultants to ensure delivery of high-quality solutions and services.
- Establish and maintain governance frameworks and compliance standards for ERP systems to ensure data integrity, security, and regulatory adherence.
- Promote a culture of knowledge sharing and best practices within the ERP CoE team (SAP, Publishing and HR) and across the organisation to enhance capabilities and project outcomes.
- Continuously evaluate and improve ERP processes, tools, and methodologies to drive efficiencies.
What you’ll bring
- Extensive experience of SAP, Publishing and HR architecture design and implementation, with a deep understanding of SAP modules, Publishing and HR processes, technologies, and integration points.
- Excellent knowledge of SAP S/4HANA and Dayforce including migration strategies and best practices.
- Proven experience in ERP transformation projects, including project management and change management skills.
- Strong understanding of enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g. TOGAF) and how this applies to SAP environments.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex SAP issues and develop innovative solutions.
- Effective communication skills, capable of explaining technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and influencing decision-making.
- Relevant experience of working with Cloud Platform and other cloud-based SAP, Publishing and HR solutions.
- Strong knowledge of data governance, security, and compliance in SAP, Publishing and HR environments.
Preferred criteria
- Experience with either BizzDesign and/or SAP Signavio and/or SAP LeanIX will be very beneficial.
- Membership of professional bodies, such as ERP Architect or similar certifications, is highly desirable.

The salary for this opportunity is c.£100,000 depending on how your skills and experience align to the role, plus a generous bonus scheme and benefits.
While our offices across the UK are places to connect, collaborate and celebrate with colleagues, we recognise that flexibility around where you work is just as important. For this role we expect that you will work from the Embassy Gardens office in London 2 days per week, with a willingness to travel to our site in Frating, Colchester on occasion.
