Finance Director

New Today

Overview

We are a hyper-growth Tech startup on a mission to revolutionise student rental. We’re now looking for a Finance Director to help us on the next stage of our journey. This is a hands-on role that combines technical capability with strategic oversight. You’ll be responsible for reporting, budgeting, forecasting, compliance and cash flow management, making sure our financial foundations are solid as Housr expands globally.

We’re now into our fourth year of trading, up and running in eight UK cities and launched in the US twelve months ago, with huge growth ambitions for 2026.

What We’re Looking For

  • You’ve led the finance function within a growing SaaS company, tech startup or SME, and know what good looks like at scale.
  • You’re a chartered licensed accountant (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CPA or equivalent).
  • Commercial experience of navigating the challenges of inter-company trading and US GAAP
  • You’re not just great with numbers – you communicate clearly, work well with others, and are open to giving and receiving feedback.
  • You combine strategic thinking with hands-on delivery across reporting, forecasting, and compliance.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

  • Financial modelling: Build and maintain robust models that reflect the business and support decision-making.
  • Reporting: Prepare and present monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements. Ensure reporting is accurate, timely and useful to both internal stakeholders and investors.
  • Budgeting and forecasting: Lead the annual budgeting process and manage ongoing forecasts. Help the business understand performance and plan ahead.
  • Financial analysis: Dive into the numbers to identify trends, risks and opportunities. Present clear insights and recommendations.
  • Cash flow management: Monitor and forecast cash flow to ensure the business is well-capitalised. Optimise working capital where possible.
  • Payroll: Oversee payroll processes and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations.
  • Compliance and audit: Maintain high standards of financial governance. Ensure compliance with accounting standards and manage relationships with external auditors.
  • Tax: Oversee tax compliance and planning, including international tax matters and supporting R&D tax credit claims.
  • EMI & pensions: Administer EMI share option schemes and own pension scheme management to ensure full compliance and employee clarity.

Considerations

  • This role is hands-on; you will not be managing a large team.
  • You should be comfortable with ambiguity and making decisions with incomplete information.
  • Availability to commit to 4 days per week in our brand new office in central Manchester (close to Piccadilly and St. Peter’s Square).

What We Offer

  • Compensation - Genuinely competitive for this seniority of role with meaningful options in an early stage SaaS startup. Full details to be disclosed during interviews
  • Holiday - 25 days off, plus bank holidays each year
  • Monthly Team Lunches - At the end of each month, we all grab lunch together as a team, and also have the afternoon off to focus on ourselves
  • Company socials - A chance to let our hair down as a team. Past socials have ranged from paintball to ping pong tournaments - we’re quite competitive!
  • Brand New Central Office Space
  • Hybrid Work Policy - We’re big advocates of in-person collaboration. We’re in the office four days a week, with Thursday as a team-wide work from home day.

Interview Process

  1. First Stage - Exploratory screening call with our Talent Partner (Matt) (30 mins)
  2. Second Stage - Video call with our COO (Nick) or CEO (Harry) (45 mins)
  3. Third Stage - F2F Meeting (including presentation task) with our CEO, COO and Fractional CFO (60-75 mins)
  4. Offer - If we think it’s a good fit, we’ll make you an offer!
