Ready to lead a finance function with real strategic impact? Iconic Resourcing are delighted to be exclusively retained by NCTech in their search for a Finance Manager to take ownership of UK and US financial operations. This is where technical accounting expertise meets leadership - reporting into the CFO, you'll oversee the day-to-day of a small finance team, including a new Management Accountant also being recruited by Iconic Resourcing, while keeping your hands firmly on the wheel of cash flow, compliance, and financial planning.

NCTech is a Scottish headquartered imagery and geospatial technology business specialising in advanced street-view technology, similar to Google Street View but with enhanced capabilities like layering analytics and GIS tracking for precise measurements.

Working remotely with complete flexibility, you'll be the financial voice at the table, partnering with senior leadership to drive decisions while ensuring operational excellence across every aspect of finance.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Financial Leadership

  • Own cash flow management with short-term and 12-month forecasting for Board reporting
  • Lead the annual budget process and develop financial models to support business decisions
  • Drive the R&D tax credit claim process and maximize value
  • Manage UK and US insurance matters

Management Accounts & Reporting

  • Take overall responsibility for accurate, timely management accounts
  • Ensure proper revenue recognition and cost matching with strong gross margin oversight
  • Conduct comprehensive month-end reviews across Xero systems
  • Maintain technical accounting standards across all transactions

Compliance Excellence

  • Oversee year-end tax returns and statutory accounts delivery
  • Ensure VAT returns, US sales tax, and all compliance requirements are handled accurately
  • Manage transfer pricing requirements
  • Keep ahead of changing R&D rules and regulations

Payroll Operations

  • Lead UK and US payroll functions
  • Serve as main liaison with BPM (US provider) and backup for Azets (UK provider)
  • Ensure HMRC and pension portals remain current and issues are resolved proactively

Team Development

  • Manage and mentor Management Accountant and Finance Assistant
  • Plan team capacity and coverage to ensure seamless operations
  • Foster continuous improvement and identify automation opportunities
  • Build a high-performing, collaborative finance function

Previous Experience

  • Qualified accountant (ICAS, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
  • Proven finance leadership experience, ideally with a growing SME - experience with both UK and US operations would be highly advantageous
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and understanding of standards
  • Experience with Xero accounting software
  • Expertise in cash flow forecasting and financial modeling
  • Experience with R&D tax credit claims and transfer pricing
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach to problem-solving
  • Experience driving process improvement and automation initiatives
