About The Role

This specialist role supports the Finance Director in managing the investment portfolio and ensuring accuracy across the P&L and balance sheet. The position upholds accounting policies set by the Financial Control Centre of Excellence and ensures consistent application. Working with diverse stakeholders, the role delivers financial insight aligned with strategic goals, maintains a strong control environment, provides assurance on accounting requirements, and leads engagement on policy and control matters.

What Your Days Will Look Like

  • Ensuring strong financial control and compliance, supporting a ‘no surprises’ environment through robust procedures, accurate reporting, and oversight of grants, offshore costs, and Managed Services Catalyst spend.
  • Delivering strategic financial insight by preparing budgets and forecasts, analysing P&L performance, and guiding business leaders with commercial acumen to drive outcomes and identify financial improvements.
  • Acting as a subject matter expert, applying accounting policies consistently, consulting with the Financial Control Centre of Excellence (FC CoE) on complex issues, and sharing local financial risk intelligence.
  • Overseeing investment portfolio governance, including ROI tracking, budget adherence, and reporting to senior leadership, while collaborating with stakeholders and Tax on HMRC submissions.

This Role Is For You If

  • Holds a recognised accounting qualification (CA, ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with strong technical knowledge, particularly in IFRS.
  • Experienced in designing and implementing financial processes, controls, and managing month‑end/year‑end reporting and audits.
  • Skilled in influencing and challenging senior stakeholders, with excellent communication and relationship‑building abilities.
  • Demonstrates strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with high attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • Proven track record in team development, offering support, training, and resilience in leadership.
  • Embraces technology to drive change and improve financial operations through digital solutions.
