VisionFR is delighted to be recruiting a part-time qualified Financial Controller for a London based Market Research Agency. Reporting into the CEO/ COO the role is critical in maintaining the financial integrity of the company through effective & accurate budgeting & reporting together with cash management and compliance.

The candidate will have come from a startup, high-growth company. This is a SaaS Start up business and the role is a sole role so managing everything Financial on a day to day basis from posting invoices to producing timely management accounts, dashboards and cashflows.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, monitor, and maintain the company's budget and forecasts in collaboration with team leads.
  • Implement best practices to track expenditures against budgets and highlight variances.
  • Participate in financial planning to support strategic business decisions and assist with preparation of financial reports to different stakeholders.
  • Monitor cash flow and ensure liquidity for operational needs.
  • Optimise working capital by managing receivables, payables, and cash collection processes.
  • Oversee day-to-day accounting functions, including payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger.
  • Ensure timely and accurate month end closing.
  • Implement and maintain effective internal controls for financial reporting.
  • Ensure adherence to tax regulations, filing requirements, and reporting standards.
  • Coordinate with external stakeholders as required.
  • Maintain regulatory compliance, including VAT, R&D credits, and any industry-specific financial obligations.
  • Evaluate existing accounting processes and suggest improvements for efficiency and accuracy.
  • Leverage financial software tools and automation to streamline processes and reporting.
  • Implement cost-saving initiatives and actively seek ways to optimize financial operations.
  • Own relationships for key vendor services, e.g., office, insurance, etc.
  • Monitor software subscription usage and report inefficiencies to the leadership team as needed.
  • Maintain IT Assets Register from a finance perspective.

Qualifications & Skills

  • 3 - 5+ years of experience in accounting or finance roles, ideally within a startup, high-growth company.
  • ACCA or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Proficiency in Xero, Google Sheets and Excel.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • A can-do, team-playing attitude.
