Augment Risk is seeking a highly motivated and hands-on UK Controller to join our global finance team. Reporting directly to the Global Controller, this role is critical in ensuring UK financial, tax, VAT, and statutory compliance while actively contributing to global initiatives in financial reporting, ERP automation, and technical accounting.

This is not just an oversight role—you will be directly involved in executing and managing key processes, working with external consultants, and partnering with colleagues across the business to deliver accurate, timely, and insightful financial information. Responsibilities

  • UK Corporate Tax & VAT Compliance and Strategy: Manage and execute the UK corporate tax return process, manage quarterly VAT filings, and establish automation processes to meet HMRC’s Making Tax Digital requirements.
  • Statutory Reporting & Finance Operations: Manage and prepare FCA statutory reporting and other jurisdictional statutory reporting, design and implement processes for FCA statutory reporting, and drive automation and system improvements for accurate and timely submissions.
  • Month-End Closing & Financial Reporting: Manage and execute the month-end closing process, play a key role in collaborating with the Global Controller and Head of FP&A in delivering monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to management and investors, and coordinate and lead the work performed by external consultants involved in month-end closing.
  • ERP & Systems Development: Partner with the Global Controller on ERP automation and finance process improvements, implement enhancements to improve efficiency, accuracy, and internal controls.
  • Technical & Strategic Accounting: Advise on UK-specific accounting topics, provide input to ensure UK requirements are reflected in group policies, and collaborate with the Global Controller to build firm-wide global accounting policies and guidance.

Experience

  • 7+ years of experience in controllership roles, preferably in the financial services or insurance industry.
  • Strong UK accounting and finance regulatory reporting expertise, with hands-on experience in UK statutory reporting including FCA reporting, and UK tax compliance including corporate tax and VAT.
  • Strong systems/ERP background (NetSuite a plus) and a proven ability to execute and improve processes.
  • High standards of ethics and professionalism, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, global environment.
  • A proven track record of delivering measurable results in fast-paced and dynamic environments, demonstrating the ability to collaborate and execute effectively, prioritize competing demands, and drive both accuracy and process improvements.
  • Strong collaborative and supportive mindset for colleagues across the entire organization.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance (CPA, ACCA, CA preferred).
