We’re supporting a leading FMCG business through a period of transition and growth, and are looking for an experienced Financial Controller to stabilise and strengthen its UK finance function. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of five (Finance Manager, Inventory Accountant, Credit Controller, and two AP staff)
  • Own the month-end close process (currently 7–10 days) and drive continuous improvement in reporting timelines
  • Deliver accurate management reporting packs and statutory accounts (with external preparation support)
  • Lead the audit in partnership with the Finance Director
  • Identify and close gaps in accounting processes, ensuring compliance and best practice
  • Work closely with individuals across the team to upskill, develop, and build accountability
  • Provide strong, hands-on leadership to enhance team performance and efficiency

Candidate Profile

  • Proven track record as a Financial Controller within a PE-backed or growth SME
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge with demonstrable process improvement experience

  • Comfortable operating in a hands-on, less structured environment
  • Strong people management and team development skills
  • Available immediately or at short notice

Culture & Fit

This business has a fast-moving, entrepreneurial culture. Success in the role requires someone who can bring calm, clarity, and structure, while being pragmatic and commercial. The ideal candidate will be technically strong, detail-oriented, and confident rolling up their sleeves to get into the numbers.
