Flood and Coastal Risk Management Advisor
Job Description We lead Flood and Coastal Risk Management for East Anglia. You will influence planning, advise on flood risk assessments, mentor junior colleagues and drive innovative solutions. Incident response is part of the role.
Responsibilities
- Use flood risk data, modelling and experience to influence complex planning decisions.
- Evaluate flood risk assessments and provide expert advice to reduce flood risk and ensure safety of new developments.
- Influence Local Plans and Strategies to embed flood resilience.
- Collaborate with partners and stakeholders to build understanding and drive action.
- Represent the Environment Agency confidently in written representation, hearings or inquiries.
- Mentor and coach junior team members.
- Embed innovative solutions and new ways of working.
- Take part in incident response when flooding occurs.
Qualifications
- Experience in flood and coastal risk management, spatial planning and use of flood risk data and modelling.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team to make decisions and achieve outcomes.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills.
- Effective time management, ability to work under pressure and at pace, reprioritising as work comes in.
- Delivery of work to time and quality.
- Problem-solving capability, including developing and embedding innovative solutions.
- Desire to progress your own learning and development, and that of others.
- Practical knowledge of GIS software (helpful).
- Degree in a relevant field such as engineering, geography, or science (helpful).
- Full UK driving licence (helpful).
