Overview

Flood and Coastal Risk Management - Advisor - Natural Flood Management (NFM) role. This permanent position supports the £25 million NFM Programme through project tracking, grant management, and secretariat support, with the aim to mainstream innovative NFM approaches into the wider FCERM investment portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Lead specific workstreams within NFM (e.g., environmental and hydrological monitoring, permitting, or asset management) with initiative and independence.
  • Support project tracking, grant management, and secretariat functions for the NFM Programme.
  • Coordinate the NFM Community of Practice and respond to stakeholder enquiries.
  • Contribute to the mainstreaming of NFM approaches into the wider FCERM investment portfolio.
  • Travel as required; hybrid working arrangement with some travel and overnight stays.
  • Respond to incidents as part of the role, including availability for incident response or business continuity support. Additional payment and training/workplace adjustments may apply for the incident role.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A relevant qualification or experience in FCRM or a related discipline is essential.
  • Experience in: Natural Flood Management – commissioning, funding, delivery, and identifying opportunities and barriers to upscaling.
  • Project and grant management experience.
  • EA processes and governance (e.g., Scheme of Delegation and assurance).
  • Experience building and sustaining stakeholder relationships across delivery bodies.
  • Clear, effective communication skills.
  • Strong digital and data skills, including coding, Power BI, Power Automate, and effective use of tracking and filing systems.
  • Experience using GIS tools and conducting spatial data analysis.
