Founding Engineer - Up to £120k + Equity

We are partnered with an exciting startup who are looking for a Founding Engineer to lead and shape the technical development of their financial analysis platform. The role covers AI, frontend and backend development, including proprietary storage databases for financial and reference data.

You will be joining as the 4th team member, where you’ll have significant autonomy in shaping both the technology and the product roadmap, while also working closely with the wider team on business and customer-facing initiatives.

Package & Working Arrangements

• Salary: £90,000 – £125,000 (flexible for the right person)
• Meaningful equity on top of base salary
• Based in London with flexible hybrid working arrangements (remote-first)

The Role

• Play a leading role in defining and evolving the future tech stack.
• Build across backend and AI systems, with opportunities to contribute to the frontend.
• Design, build, and scale new features, products, and integrations.
• Work in a fast-paced, high-growth startup environment where your impact is immediate.
• Python REST API hosted on Railway
• Internal API functionality (AI workflows) and external integrations (financial databases, news streams)

Frontend

• TypeScript / Vite-based frontend with Tailwind CSS for styling
• Convex Database (convex.dev) for data management, supporting AI chat (Anthropic, OpenAI, Gemini, and others) and vectorized database operations
• Backblaze B2 (S3-compatible) for file storage
• WorkOS for authentication and user management

Who you are

• Strong experience in backend engineering, ideally with Python
• Background or strong interest in AI/LLMs
• Exposure to frontend technologies (TypeScript, React, or similar) is beneficial
• Financial services experience is helpful but not essential
• A self-starter who thrives in fast-paced environments and enjoys having a direct impact
