Join us as a Governance Advisor and bring your passion for governance to a role where you\'ll collaborate directly with senior leaders to support strategic decisions. We have an exciting opportunity for a Grade 5 Advisor to join the Environment & Business Directorate\'s (E&B) Business Strategy team. This is a chance to work closely with senior leadership teams across the E&B Directorate and across the organisation. This is a great role for someone curious, who wants to find solutions and to make best use of our decision-making frameworks. You will be instrumental in ensuring that E&B governance groups run effectively as we strive to continually improve how we manage E&B in the future.

You\'ll be a strategic lead for governance within E&B. You will need to develop, manage and communicate complex information to support senior leaders in decision making, including providing business support skills and being an advocate for sound governance and assuring accountability is maintained and visible. The post is full-time although requests for other work patterns will be considered.

The team

You will be joining the Business Strategy Team, at the heart of the E&B Directorate who have a wealth of experience in business management, synthesis and reporting information that underpins excellent business performance. The small team are dispersed, inclusive and professional, responsible for the smooth and effective running of the E&B Directorate. You will be expected to work collaboratively across many different teams, particularly those within Strategy and Programmes and with Director leads across E&B.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, manage and communicate complex information to support senior leaders in decision making.
  • Advocate for sound governance and ensure accountability is maintained and visible.
  • Support governance groups to run effectively and contribute to continuous improvement of E&B governance processes.
  • Collaborate with teams across Strategy, Programmes and with Director leads across E&B.

Experience / Skills required

We are looking for someone who can stay calm under pressure with a strong ability to deliver and collaborate, working with others effectively, building relationships and making best use of resources available. You will be flexible and able to deliver multiple priorities or competing demands and be comfortable and confident working with senior leaders. You will understand the business of the Environment Agency and the importance of how good governance underpins sound decision making and supports effective action on the ground. As an excellent communicator, you will have good influencing and networking skills, be organised, self-driven and motivated, with a desire to solve problems and identify solutions in innovative and cost-effective ways. You will ideally have experience and a background in business services and processes that support action and decision making. You\'ll have a range of development opportunities and appropriate training will be provided.
