Group Financial Controller - South Yorkshire (Route to FD/CFO)

Axon Moore are supporting a thriving, fast-paced services business in South Yorkshire with the appointment of a Group Financial Controller.
The business has revenues of £100m+ and they have experienced significant success in recent years, having embarked on a successful M&A buy and build program. Their brand is well recognised, and they have a culture that is high performing, flexible and open to fresh ideas.
They require a Group Financial Controller who can implement and maintain robust financial controls, lead both the financial reporting and operational finance functions, and support the CFO with strategic growth initiatives.
Key responsibilities:
- Oversee a large, multi-tiered finance function spanning operational finance and both financial and management reporting
- Oversee financial reporting including group consolidations
- Manage the external audit at year end
- Oversee preparation of the budgets and forecasts including KPIs
- Preparing board packs and investor updates, presenting key information to the board and investment stakeholders
- Engage in financial systems updates and projects, streamlining where possible and making recommendations
- Ensure robust internal controls and compliance measures are adhered to
- Manage cash, working capital and treasury arrangements
- Supporting M&A processes and integrations
This is an ideal role for an ambitious candidate who has an eye on becoming a CFO or FD in the near future, as there is a succession plan in place and the CFO will mentor this individual so they are ready to take on the role in the future.
Ideal candidate:
- Qualified Accountant with a strong technical/financial reporting background (ideally ACA Qualified from a large-tier practice background)
- Strong group reporting experience
- Experience running and operational or transactional finance function
- Able to manage a large team through a period of change, ensuring it keeps up with the pace of the business
There is a flexible and hybrid working culture in place, however the candidate will be required to be on site in South Yorkshire for at least 3 days per week.
