Description

We are seeking an experienced Group Operational Financial Controller to be at the forefront of leading and developing our finance function. Reporting directly to the Group CFO, this is a high-profile role where you will lead and inspire a team of around 50 finance professionals spanning across multiple functions across different hubs within the Sumer Group.

This is an opportunity to shape the future of our finance operations – driving transformation, embedding best-in-class processes, and influencing how we deliver exceptional financial support to the business at group level.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a finance team of approximately 50 covering multiple functions across the group.
  • Drive transformation within the finance function, including processes and technology.
  • Oversee capabilities including management account reporting, credit control, accounts payable and payroll.
  • Ensure strong financial controls, attention to detail, and compliance across all areas.
  • Lead on flash reporting, capital expenditure and exceptionals.
  • Take accountability for the accuracy and timeliness of business unit financial reporting.
  • Partner with leadership to deliver financial insight that supports decision making.
  • Oversight of business unit budgeting and re-forecasting processes.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

  • Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with demonstrable post-qualification experience.
  • Proven track record of leading large finance teams.
  • Strong technical finance skills combined with knowledge of best in class financial processes.
  • Professional services experience preferable
  • Commercially astute, with excellent communication and influencing skills.
  • Experience implementing finance systems and technology.
