Claims Recruitment Services has been retained to bring to the market a new position within the claims leadership team of an established, growing and highly reputable global (Re)Insurer & Lloyd's Syndicate, based in their growing Bermuda office. We are seeking a skilled Reinsurance claims professional either currently living & working in Bermuda or someone based in the UK, US or Canada to relocate to Bermuda.

Role Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Claims individual to join the Bermuda team, with a dual role encompassing leadership of the Bermuda claims operations and contributing to the global reinsurance claims strategy. This is a unique opportunity to shape the claims function in a growing Bermuda office while collaborating with established teams in London and APAC to drive best practices across the reinsurance business. This role offers the energy of a start-up with the stability of a mature company.

Key Responsibilities

The Head of Claims will be responsible for establishing and managing the claims function in Bermuda, initially focusing on proportional business, where claims processing is largely a technical finance and cash allocation role. The role will also involve adjusting losses for excess of loss business, including property catastrophe, retro excess of loss, and specialty reinsurance lines. A key aspect of the role will be supporting the casualty book through claims auditing, working closely with underwriters and the reserving team.

On a global scale, the Head of Claims will coordinate claims across business units, ensuring consistent practices and acting as a key point of contact for reinsurance claims related matters. This includes contributing to global claims committees, representing the reinsurance claims capabilities to brokers and cedants, and managing relationships with outwards reinsurers for large, complex claims.

Key Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in reinsurance claims, with a preference for experience in US casualty claims adjusting. A strategic mindset, coupled with excellent technical and claims knowledge, is essential. The successful candidate will be a strong communicator and collaborator, able to influence and lead portfolios/functions without direct reporting lines. Technological savvy and an open-minded approach to implementing technology solutions to improve efficiency are highly valued. Experience in designing and implementing claims processes is also desirable.

While a legal background can be beneficial, it is not essential. We are seeking someone who can contribute strategic insights and perspectives to the leadership team and help build a successful reinsurance business in Bermuda.

Relocating to Bermuda & Living Allowance

We are seeking candidates either currently working in Bermuda, or currently working and living in the United Kingdom, USA or Canada. A generous living allowance on top of salary is on offer as well as the support and management of visa & social security requirements.

A significant remuneration package is on offer including base salary, bonus and LTI as well as an extensive benefits package.
