Head of Ecommerce – Hybrid (Essex, 2-3 Days in Office)
Salary: £72,500 + Bonus + Benefits
We’re working with a market-leading supplier in the trade and home improvement sector to find a Head of Ecommerce ready to lead a major platform transformation and drive digital growth. With a rich 50-year legacy and 25 years of online trading, the business is now entering an exciting new chapter—and you’ll be at the centre of it.
The Role
You’ll own the Ecommerce strategy and performance, overseeing a talented in-house team and multiple agency partners. From site optimisation and platform migration to customer journey enhancement, you’ll be responsible for ensuring best-in-class digital performance, customer satisfaction, and commercial results.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end Ecommerce strategy and day-to-day operations
- Take full P&L responsibility, including substantial digital marketing budgets
- Oversee and manage a major CMS replatforming project
- Analyse data to drive conversion, AOV, LTV, and customer engagement
- Own the trading and merchandising performance of the site
- Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, category, and leadership teams
- Coordinate campaigns, SEO strategy, content optimisation, and user experience
- Mentor and structure a team of 11, building an agile, high-performing unit
- Manage key agency relationships, technical partners, and 3rd party platforms
- Stay ahead of emerging Ecommerce technologies and CRO best practices
What You’ll Need
- 5+ years in senior digital or Ecommerce leadership, ideally in B2B or retail
- Hands-on experience with platforms such as Shopify Plus and digital tech stacks
- Proven success delivering replatforming projects from planning to execution
- Strong knowledge of SEO, CRO, digital marketing, and performance analytics
- A commercial mindset with P&L ownership experience
- Collaborative leadership style with experience managing large teams and agencies
- Comfortable driving both technical and customer-centric strategy
