Overview
Our client is seeking a visionary and hands‑on Head of Engineering to lead the architectural direction and engineering execution of their enterprise‑grade solutions, including the implementation of a modern, cloud‑native platform.
This role offers a unique opportunity to shape long‑term technical strategy, drive innovation, and lead talented engineering teams in delivering scalable, secure, and high‑performance systems. The successful candidate will combine deep technical expertise with proven leadership skills to foster collaboration, innovation, and excellence across teams.
Responsibilities
- Own the end‑to‑end architecture of the company’s enterprise solutions, with a particular focus on a core strategic platform.
- Define and uphold architectural standards, patterns, and best practices across engineering teams.
- Lead the design and delivery of cloud migration strategies for legacy systems.
- Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary engineering team, promoting technical excellence, accountability, and teamwork.
- Oversee development lifecycles, code quality, and delivery timelines to ensure consistent, high‑quality outputs.
- Collaborate closely with Product Management and Operations to align engineering goals with business strategy.
Strategic Direction
- Contribute to and shape the organisation’s long‑term technical roadmap.
- Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies to support innovation and scalability.
- Act as a trusted technical advisor to senior leadership and key stakeholders.
- Drive the development and deployment of cloud‑based solutions.
- Ensure that cloud architectures meet strict security, compliance, and performance standards.
- Optimise systems for cost efficiency, scalability, and maintainability.
Requirements
- Proven experience in enterprise architecture and engineering leadership.
- Strong background in designing and deploying secure, scalable cloud solutions.
- Deep understanding of on‑premises infrastructure and cloud migration.
- Hands‑on experience with major cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
- Familiarity with hardware‑integrated systems and audit/compliance technologies.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience leading cross‑functional teams in agile environments.
- Eligibility for UK NPPV Level 3 Security Vetting (or higher).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline.
- Professional certifications in cloud architecture (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Architect Expert).
- Experience within regulated sectors or audit technology environments.
