We are looking for a Head of Engineering with experience working within the Payments Industry.

Runa is pioneering a first-of-its-kind payment rail that enables seamless, global money movement at scale. Runa transforms the landscape by providing a new digital payments infrastructure that empowers businesses to send digital money instantly and cost-free to anyone, anywhere.

Overview

The Head of Engineering will oversee multiple engineering teams within the Treasury domain, manage managers and senior engineers, and shape the technical direction of the platform. You will report to the CPTO and be part of the Runa Leadership Group, driving innovation, efficiency, and operational excellence in a fast-paced fintech environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor multiple engineering teams within the Treasury domain, including managers and senior engineers.
• Set and drive architectural direction and engineering practices to scale systems with resilience, performance, and security at the core.
• Collaborate with product, design, and other cross-functional teams to deliver strategic roadmaps.
• Champion modern engineering practices, foster a culture of ownership and continuous improvement, and align technical initiatives with company objectives.
• Influence technical strategy as well as business direction, contributing to broader company growth.

Our Tech

We run Python and TypeScript services on Kubernetes (EKS) and Lambda. Persistence uses Aurora (PostgreSQL), with new services leveraging DynamoDB and event triggers. We value breadth of programming background and are open to any programming language.

Qualifications

• Experience or deep knowledge in the payments and/or fintech space, with a track record of guiding teams through complex, high-scale systems.
• Proven ability to coach and develop managers as well as senior individual contributors, with a passion for mentoring and high performance.
• Strong technical depth to guide architectural discussions and advocate modern engineering practices.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and drive adoption of modern engineering practices and continuous improvement.
• Evidence of influencing strategy and business outcomes beyond engineering.
