Head of Finance | Stealth Consumer AI Startup | Fitzrovia (Hybrid)

Harmonic are supporting a game‑changing stealth startup operating at the intersection of consumer tech, automation, and AI. Fresh off a major $10m seed round led by top‑tier international VCs, this venture is poised to reimagine a category whose incumbents haven’t meaningfully evolved in over two decades. With an ambitious product vision, global addressable market, and founders with prior exits under their belts, this is a rocket ship preparing for launch. Their product has already captured interest from some of the most forward‑thinking operators in tech and they are gearing up to scale a product with genuine mass‑market potential.

The Role

We're looking for a hands‑on Head of Finance to join as the first hire in the function. You will be instrumental in building finance from zero to one, crafting robust processes and leveraging AI agents to automate everything from reconciliation to performance reporting. You’ll have a blank canvas to create a modern finance backbone designed for scale.

Reporting to the CEO, this is an opportunity to define what ‘Finance 3.0’ looks like, using the latest tools and working alongside world‑class machine learning engineers to build a future‑facing finance function with minimal manual overhead and maximum strategic impact.

It's a rare chance to experiment with cutting‑edge finance automation, lightweight compliance stacks, and real‑time performance insight, while still owning all the core responsibilities of an early‑stage finance leader, from reporting and controls to commercial strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build the finance function from scratch, setting up core processes, dashboards, and controls for a fast‑scaling consumer business.
  • Own financial reporting end‑to‑end: month‑end, investor updates, board prep, statutory accounts, cash flow and liquidity planning.
  • Design and deploy AI‑powered workflows to automate accounts payable, revenue recognition, customer billing, and real‑time performance analytics.
  • Partner with Product and Engineering to embed financial logic directly into platform architecture.
  • Lead on fundraising alongside the CEO, taking point on financial modelling, due diligence and investor dialogue.
  • Establish KPIs and financial models that support scalable unit economics as the business expands internationally.
  • Manage all external parties: payroll, tax advisors, and outsourced accounting firms, with the remit to bring in‑house where necessary.
  • Support ad hoc strategic and commercial work as opportunities emerge, whether that's pricing strategy, new market evaluation, or partnership modelling.

Who We Think You Are

  • ACA, CA or MBA qualified, or equivalent experience within a fast‑growth tech environment.
  • Have built processes from scratch in a startup, and used automation tools to do it (standard spreadsheets should feel outdated to you).
  • Naturally curious about next‑gen finance tooling (think: Airbase, Rillet, Tesorio, Check… and what comes next).
  • Proven operator in a consumer‑facing product‑led business, with exposure to subscription and/or marketplace models.
  • Comfortable wearing many hats: part‑controller, part‑strategist, part‑automation‑architect.
  • Keen to be the owner of the finance narrative in a business with ambitious scaling plans and genuine category‑redefining potential.
  • Bonus points if you’ve worked somewhere that required you to handle high volume, high‑velocity complexity without missing a beat.
