Overview

Head of Fire Safety – Interim contract for three months. This is a full-time, home-based position with travel to multiple sites across England three to four times a month. The daily rate is £650, inside IR35, via an umbrella company.

Responsibilities

  • Managing the Fire Risk Assessment (FRA) programme for a nationwide portfolio of properties, ensuring statutory compliance, consistency of approach, and prioritisation of high-risk sites
  • Controlling the full delivery process of FRAs from commissioning through to monitoring, ensuring remedial works are promptly actioned, tracked, and completed to required standards
  • Exercising a strong understanding of Building Safety legislation, including the preparation and application of Building Safety Case Reports, to support compliance and assurance activities
  • Managing fire door inspections and wider fire safety inspections, ensuring accurate reporting, effective contractor performance, and timely resolution of any identified issues

Experience required

  • Extensive experience in managing Fire Risk Assessment programmes across a large or complex property portfolio (ideally nationwide or multi-site)
  • A background in developing and implementing Building Safety Case Reports and associated compliance documentation
  • Practical experience in managing fire door inspections, fire stopping, cladding works, and other fire safety-related projects
  • Track record in leading or managing fire safety teams, including setting objectives, performance monitoring, and professional development
  • Experience in developing fire safety policies, procedures, and training to embed compliance across an organisation

Skills, knowledge and expertise required

  • Proven track record of overseeing the delivery of remedial works arising from FRAs, ensuring compliance with statutory obligations and safety standards
  • Strong knowledge of fire safety legislation, regulations, and guidance (e.g. Regulatory Reform [Fire Safety] Order 2005, Fire Safety Act 2021, Building Safety Act 2022)
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct audits, inspections, and assurance checks on fire safety systems and works
  • Background in liaising with regulators (e.g. Fire and Rescue Service, Building Safety Regulator) and external contractors

Working hours

  • 37 hours per week
  • Monday – Friday
  • National site visits required three to four days a month
  • Home based role
