Head of IT - FTC / London 60% Office Based

Our client is a dynamic and rapidly growing pensions fund, providing an innovative approach and changing the game in their space as a disruptor.

They seek an experienced Head of IT / IT director with a passion for hands‑on leadership, support and problem solving for the business. While owning the future strategy for IT, you will also be comfortable managing the systems and technology.

You will have a strong background in platform, applications, infrastructure and cloud with an eye for architecture as their business is evolving at speed, and will be comfortable working in a financial regulated environment.

Summary

  • Cloud, data, platform and cybersecurity experience in end‑to‑end systems
  • Hands‑on leader balancing IT strategy with delivery in a lean, agile business of under 50 employees
  • Deliver robust IT infrastructure that aligns with business outcomes, driving requirements and collaborating across teams
  • IT vendor management, offshore 3rd‑party experience
  • IT governance and controls
  • Technical expertise: Azure, reporting/data lakes, Power BI, SQL databases, GDPR, bridging the technical‑actuarial gap
  • Delivery expertise: execute end‑to‑end projects in‑house or with consultancy, strong stakeholder collaboration

Requirements

  • Strong technical credentials in Azure, data architecture and reporting
  • Proven end‑to‑end delivery experience, ideally in financial services or consultancy
  • Ability to bridge the gap between technical teams and actuaries
  • Hands‑on leadership style, able to operate autonomously and collaboratively
  • Right cultural fit: innovative, delivery‑focused and adaptable in a non‑legacy environment
