Overview
The Head of IT/Technology will provide leadership and oversight for all internal IT operations within Connected Health Group. This role ensures the delivery of secure, resilient, and high-performing IT systems, infrastructure and support services across the organisation. The postholder will also lead the data transformation strategy, working alongside the SLT to drive automation, system integration, and data-driven decision-making. This includes designing and implementing modern data architectures, system APIs, and integration frameworks that support growth, compliance and innovation.

Key Responsibilities
- IT Infrastructure & Systems: Oversee the management, maintenance and continuous improvement of all IT systems, networks and cloud environments. Ensure business continuity and disaster recovery plans are robust, tested and up to date. Lead the deployment, monitoring and optimisation of hardware, software and digital platforms across all business sites.
- Cybersecurity & Data Protection: Maintain and improve cyber security controls, ensuring protection of data and systems. Lead achievement and ongoing maintenance of Cyber Essentials Plus accreditation. Ensure compliance with GDPR and the NIS2 Directive across both NI and ROI operations. Support governance and audit requirements, ensuring IT controls align with HSE, HSC Trust and RQIA/HIQA standards.
- Data Transformation: Lead the organisation's data transformation strategy. Design and implement automation solutions to streamline internal processes. Oversee integration of systems through APIs and modern data stacks. Ensure data is structured, reliable and accessible to support operational and strategic decision-making.
- IT Governance & Compliance: Work closely with the Compliance & Governance Lead to ensure IT policies and controls support regulatory compliance (HSE, HSC Trusts, HIQA, CQC where applicable). Lead IT audits, respond to internal and external audit requirements, and maintain accurate documentation of processes. Ensure vendor contracts and licences are properly managed and renewed.
- IT Service Delivery: Manage the internal IT support function, ensuring responsive helpdesk support for staff. Establish and monitor KPIs for IT service levels, incident resolution and user satisfaction. Provide training and guidance to staff on digital tools, cyber hygiene and system use.
- Team Leadership: Lead, develop, and support the IT team, fostering a culture of accountability and service excellence. Prioritise workload to balance urgent support needs with long-term projects. Ensure the team is resourced and trained to meet evolving organisational needs. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and innovation.
Qualifications
- Essential: Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline (or equivalent experience). Proven leadership in IT management, infrastructure, and security. Strong experience with data strategy, system integration (APIs), and automation. Demonstrated knowledge of Cyber Essentials Plus, GDPR, and NIS2 Directive compliance requirements. Track record of implementing modern data stacks or equivalent enterprise data frameworks. Experience managing IT audits, governance processes, and vendor relationships. Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Desirable: Postgraduate qualification in Information Security, Data Science, or Digital Transformation. Professional certifications (e.g., ITIL, ISO27001 Lead Implementer, Microsoft Azure Administrator, CISSP).
- Experience in healthcare, social care, or other regulated environments. Experience managing cross-border IT operations (NI/ROI).
