We’re partnering with a not-for-profit that is undergoing a major digital transformation — and they’re looking for a strategic, forward-thinking leader to shape the future of their technical services.
They’re now hiring a Head of Technical Services to lead cloud strategy, infrastructure, and cyber security across the business. This is a brand-new role with real scope to influence direction, modernise systems, and embed a culture of innovation and resilience.
This is a rare opportunity to step into a newly created leadership role with real autonomy. You’ll be joining a values-led organisation with a clear commercial vision, and given the freedom to develop a digital strategy to meet this vision, and the backing to deliver it. The first 6 months will focus on building and presenting a strategy to the board, implementing a new cyber policy, and unlocking the full potential of their Microsoft stack.
Here’s a quick overview of the role:
Role: Head of Technical Services
Contract Type: Permanent
Location: Chester – Agile/Hybrid Working (approx. 2–3 days/week on-site)
Salary: £69,187 per annum
Working Pattern: Full Time
Ideal Experience:
- Senior IT leadership experience with a strong strategic focus
- Deep understanding of Microsoft Azure and O365 E5 environments
- Strong grasp of cyber security strategy, trends, and risk mitigation (not hands-on log analysis)
- Experience with networking, contracts management, and technical project delivery
- Ability to build and deliver a technical roadmap aligned to corporate goals
- Strong stakeholder engagement – able to translate technical concepts into plain English
- Coaching leadership style – calm, logical, and collaborative
- Bonus: Experience stepping up from an IT Manager role, with exposure to varied tech environments
Day-to-Day:
- Define and deliver a strategic roadmap for infrastructure, cloud, and cyber security
- Leverage the organisation’s Azure environment and E5 licensing to drive value
- Provide assurance to the board on cyber security posture and resilience
- Oversee networking, end-user computing, and technical project delivery
- Manage contracts and third-party relationships
- Lead and mentor a small, busy team (900+ tickets/month) including:
- Security Analyst (hands-on cyber)
- Senior Support Analyst (firewalls, MDM)
- Support the implementation of a new SD-WAN and legacy system migrations
- Contribute to AI strategy, cloud security reviews, and future tech planning
