Our client are non‑profit organisation in the environmental sector. They are looking for a passionate and commercially‑minded leader to join our team and drive the growth of our learning and development services.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of Learning and Development to lead and manage our Learning and Accreditation functions. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of professional development in the environmental sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Learning and Development team, managing 2 individuals.
  • Implement and drive the growth strategy for their L&D services, taking ownership of the budget and meeting revenue targets.
  • Build and maintain strong, long‑term relationships with employer clients, partner organisations, and associate trainers.
  • Oversee the entire delivery of the learning services, from course scheduling and content updates to ensuring exceptional customer service.
  • Actively manage team performance, encouraging continuous learning and an environment aligned with our core values.
  • Develop new, high‑quality blended and digital learning services that meet the evolving needs of the water and environmental sectors.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams, including Events, Policy, and Marketing, to ensure a cohesive and strategic approach.

About You

The ideal candidate is a versatile and authentic leader with a proven track record in learning and development.

  • You possess strong experience in leading and managing teams, with a focus on performance management and professional growth.
  • You have a solid background in delivering high‑quality learning interventions, including blended and digital learning formats. A working knowledge of authoring tools is important, but your ability to translate concepts into effective learning is key.
  • You are commercially astute, with experience in budgeting, financial forecasting, and business development.
  • An exceptional communicator, you excel at building relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • You are an adaptable generalist, confident in picking up new projects and moving them forward in a dynamic, small‑business environment.
  • A passion for or experience in the water and environmental management sector is highly desirable, but not essential. We value transferable skills from related fields.
