Overview

We are partnering with a listed Oil & Gas group to recruit an Interim Head of Reporting for a 6–12 month fixed-term contract. This senior position will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial accounting and reporting across the UK and international entities.

Position

Title: Chief Accounting Officer/Head of Reporting

Location: London (Hybrid)

Contract type: Fixed term, 6–12 months (Maternity cover)

Salary: £220,000 – £330,000 per annum (pro-rata, depending on experience + bonus)

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the accounting and reporting function, ensuring compliance with US GAAP, IFRS, and SOX requirements
  • Oversee the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated accounts
  • Manage the financial close process, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and completeness of all reporting
  • Act as the primary contact for the external auditors and oversee audit deliverables
  • Support SEC reporting requirements in collaboration with US head office
  • Oversee UK statutory accounts preparation and coordination with local auditors and advisors
  • Lead on technical accounting issues, including complex revenue recognition, impairment reviews, and asset accounting
  • Ensure integrity of financial controls and drive process improvements across the accounting and reporting cycle
  • Manage, mentor, and develop a team of qualified accountants and analysts
  • Partner closely with FP&A, Treasury, Tax, and Operations to ensure alignment across finance functions
  • Contribute to ongoing transformation projects, including systems and reporting enhancements

Key Skills & Experience

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CPA or equivalent)
  • Strong post-qualification experience (minimum 5 years), ideally within a listed multinational
  • Proven experience in oil & gas, energy, or related capital-intensive industries is desirable
  • Deep technical knowledge of US GAAP, IFRS, and SOX compliance
  • Prior experience with SEC reporting and working within a US-listed environment preferred
  • Strong audit management experience, including Big 4 background advantageous
  • Hands-on experience leading finance teams and driving improvements in reporting and controls
