Head of (Research and Enterprise (Governance, Ethics and Integrity)

Hybrid | Midlands-based | Up to £57,422 | Permanent | 2+ Days Onsite

Are you ready to shape the future of research governance, culture, and systems in a university environment that’s building from the ground up? I am looking for a values-driven leader to join our growing Research & Enterprise team, someone who’s hands-on, collaborative, and motivated to make a real impact.

This is a professional services role, ideal for someone who thrives on getting stuck in, leading change, and empowering new teams.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Lead on research, governance and integrity, including ethics management and trusted research.
• Oversee research culture work – including embedding concordats and institution-wide initiatives.
• Manage and develop a new, growing team (initially 3–4 direct reports).
• Provide high-level oversight of systems (you’ll oversee – two specialists already in place).
• Work closely with their coordinator and senior officer (research culture) to support institutional funding and positive research environments.
  
  
  

• No legacy issues – this is a rare chance to build from scratch.
• Work with a friendly, ambitious team led by a collaborative and respected leadership group.
• Make your mark in shaping research support for the future.
• Hybrid working with flexibility – minimum 2 days onsite (Tues/Weds preferred).
  
  
  

• Experience in research, governance, integrity, and ethics/trusted research.
• Understanding of research culture and sector concordats (don’t need to have led it – just know it well).
• A natural team builder who can motivate and lead through change.
• A proactive, sleeves-rolled-up mindset.
• Comfortable operating in complex academic environment,
  
  
  

• Salary: Up to £57,422
• Permanent position
• Start Date: as soon as possible but of course notice periods taken in to consideration
• Location: Hybrid, 2 days minimum onsite in the Midlands
