Head of Service Reliability - Senior Recovery Lead / Incident Management / Operational Excellence – Competitive Salary

Location: Birmingham or Sheffield (Hybrid)

We are partnering with a leading global financial services organisation seeking a Senior Recovery Lead & Global Head of Service Reliability to lead global incident recovery initiatives and build long-term service resilience. This is a highly visible position where you own the strategy, execution, and cultural transformation required to deliver reliable, self-healing systems at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Lead global SRE efforts, actively managing incident response, reducing time-to-recover (TTR), and bringing clarity and coordination to critical incidents.
  • Build a centre of excellence with a specialist core team, embed SRE best practices across federated engineering groups, and partner with Problem Management and Platform teams to drive systemic remediation and automation.
  • Own the resilience and recovery strategy and implement engineering standards that influence robust, reliable system design.
  • Engage with Managing Directors and CTO-level stakeholders using strong technical and communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience leading global SRE efforts, actively managing incident response, reducing time-to-recover (TTR), and bringing clarity and coordination to critical incidents.
  • Ability to build a centre of excellence with a specialist core team, embed SRE best practices across federated engineering groups, and partner with Problem Management and Platform teams to drive systemic remediation and automation.
  • Proven ownership of the resilience and recovery strategy and implement engineering standards that influence robust, reliable system design.
  • Technical expertise and strong communication skills when engaging with Managing Directors and CTO-level stakeholders.
