Overview

Techmunity are hiring a Head of Software Engineering for a fast-growing deeptech AI company that raised a £8m Series A earlier this year and is already trusted by global brands including Red Bull, L’Oréal, and Coca-Cola.

Their computer vision platform is used daily by field teams worldwide to replace manual stock checks with highly accurate, automated insights - delivering 99%+ accuracy and fuelling rapid commercial growth.

Revenue has surged several hundred percent in the last two years, and they’re now building the technical foundation for a future Series B raise and international expansion.

The role

This is a career-defining opportunity for an experienced engineering leader from the AI/ML world who wants to step into a future CTO position.

You’ll inherit two capable teams:

• Computer Vision (4 people) – including a team lead who joined as an intern and grown into leadership.
• Product Engineering (4 people) – delivering mobile and web apps, with strong individual contributors already in place.

Your job is to bring strategy, structure, and leadership, not hands-on coding.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the engineering roadmap, balancing immediate delivery with long-term scalability
• Lead end-to-end AI project delivery, from prototype through production and deployment
• Scale existing teams (CV, ML, apps, infra) and build new ones (QA, DevOps, Solutions Architecture) as needed
• Mentor senior engineers and team leads, instilling high standards of quality, reliability, and performance
• Work closely with the founders to shape product strategy, fill skill gaps, and prepare the company for Series B

What they’re looking for

• 10+ years in software engineering / AI / ML, with 3+ years in a leadership role
• Proven experience scaling teams in a Series A/B startup environment
• Strong background across cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP/Azure), web & mobile app delivery, and data pipelines
• A leader who can influence at board level, combining strategic vision with operational delivery
• Salary circa £150,000 + equity options
• Hybrid working – 1–2 days/week in London office (can be flexible on this)
