Role Overview
As our Health and Safety Manager you will design, implement, manage and communicate Hastings Direct’s Health and Safety policies and risk management framework. You will also look for opportunities to improve operational activities and produce performance reports for the business across Bexhill, London and Leicester.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement and monitor health and safety policies, procedures and systems across the organisation and ensure compliance with all legislation, regulations and standards.
- Conduct regular risk assessments, audits and inspections, identifying potential hazards and applying corrective measures.
- Investigate accidents and incidents, produce reports and recommend preventative actions.
- Ensure public sector duty obligations are met in accordance with applicable legislation.
- Provide expert advice to senior management and operational teams regarding health and safety issues; lead training initiatives to promote a safety‑first culture.
- Work closely with external auditors and agencies to ensure compliance with industry standards.
Essential Skills / Experience
- Strong background in health & safety management within office‑based, multi‑site organisations, with in‑depth knowledge of regulations and compliance frameworks.
- NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) in Occupational Health and Safety.
- Ability to manage complex projects and drive improvements across multiple locations.
- Experience in conducting audits, risk assessments and implementation of health and safety policies.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and motivate others.
