About the Role

A pivotal position offering the opportunity to shape and drive the HSE strategy across manufacturing, technical, and office environments. As the HSE Manager, you will own the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of our HSE systems and culture across multiple sites, advising leadership and embedding a positive safety culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead a robust HSE strategy aligned with corporate and legal requirements.
  • Review and implement HSE policies, procedures, and safe systems of work.
  • Oversee and support comprehensive risk assessments and control measures.
  • Manage accident and near-miss reporting, investigation, and trend analysis.
  • Deliver HSE training and maintain accurate training records.
  • Ensure compliance with COSHH, DSEAR, Fire Safety, and Environmental regulations.
  • Monitor performance metrics, analyse data, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Build strong partnerships with internal teams and external stakeholders to promote engagement and collaboration.
  • Provide expert advice on all HSE-related matters and participate in audits and accreditation processes.

About You

We’re looking for a confident, proactive individual with credibility and communication skills to influence at all levels, passionate about creating a culture where safety and sustainability are at the forefront.

Essential experience and qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience managing health, safety, and environmental compliance in a manufacturing or technical environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of COSHH management and environmental legislation.
  • In-depth understanding of UK Health, Safety and Environmental law and best practice.
  • NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) required.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and influencing skills.
  • Confident using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Desirable

  • Knowledge of construction-related safety, laser or radiation safety, and process gas systems.
  • Experience within a production or microscopy technology environment.
  • Advanced HSE qualifications or additional NEBOSH certifications.
