We’re working with a well-established local authority client who is looking to appoint a full-time, permanent Housing Lawyer with substantial experience in housing disrepair litigation. This is an excellent opportunity to take on a pivotal role, making a tangible impact for local residents while working on a varied and challenging caseload.
Base pay range
Up to £52,413 | Permanent | Full-time | Hybrid Working
Responsibilities
You’ll be handling housing litigation matters from start to finish, with a particular focus on disrepair cases. Your work will span the full range of housing-related issues, including:
- High-value and routine disrepair claims
- Possession proceedings
- Injunctions, closure orders and enforcement actions
- Pre-litigation casework through to final hearings
Alongside this, you’ll provide clear, practical legal advice to colleagues and clients, support on policy matters, and represent the authority in County and Magistrates’ Courts when required.
Qualifications
- A qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives
- Experienced in housing disrepair and local authority housing litigation
- Confident in conducting advocacy in both County Court and Magistrates’ Court
- Skilled in providing clear, concise legal advice with strong drafting and research skills
- Able to work independently, manage a demanding caseload, and adapt quickly to new matters
- A strong understanding of the pre-action protocol for housing conditions claims and housing litigation procedures is essential
