HR Manager
We are working with an established insurance broking and risk management organisation whose success is fuelled by an ambitious buy‑and‑build strategy. Every new acquisition brings fresh talent, challenges and of course opportunity. To keep pace the People Team are looking for an experienced HR Manager to join on a permanent basis based out of their Essex offices.
Reporting to the People Director and leading a tight‑knit team of HR Advisers and Administrators, you’ll design and deliver a proactive, high‑quality service that balances compliance, culture and commercial pace across multi-faceted UK-wide insurance organisation.
Key responsibilities
- Lead, coach and inspire the People Advisory & Admin teams, ensuring SLA‑centred service and continuous development.
- Own end‑to‑end TUPE projects – due diligence, risk assessment, consultation, data capture and post‑completion integration – escalating red flags early and keeping leadership fully briefed.
- Safeguard compliance: monitor legislation, update policies, brief managers and create clear, engaging communications (newsletters, memos, SharePoint toolkit).
- Oversee monthly payroll submission with a keen eye on accuracy and deadlines.
- Provide expert, high‑risk ER guidance, ensuring fair, timely resolution and fostering a culture of partnership rather than policing.
- Champion strategic people initiatives that enhance employee experience, performance and retention – from People Forum events to targeted manager training.
- To oversee Employee benefits scheme/plans.
- Travel nationwide to newly acquired sites, embedding consistent, values‑led people practices.
The successful HR Manager
The right HR Manager MUST have a solid background working within M&A focused businesses, and have supported staff through TUPE and consultations, ideally within the insurance broking/distribution/underwriting space, however other financial or professional services experience will be considered.
You will be somebody who wants to challenge themselves and those around them as this is a role within a growing business where the team and remit will expand in line with the business achieving their milestones.
- Proven M&A / TUPE track record gained in a fast‑moving, multi‑site environment – ideally insurance, financial services or another regulated sector.
- Confident HR generalist with deep ER expertise and up‑to‑date employment law knowledge, with the ability to take on high level cases.
- Inspirational leader who can set direction, develop talent and hold teams to account.
- Commercially sharp, able to balance employee advocacy with business priorities.
- First‑class communicator: you write crisp policies, craft clear insights for executives and build credibility on the ground.
- Methodical and discreet, with an innate drive for continuous improvement.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly.
- A pivotal, high‑visibility role partnering directly with the People Director and senior leadership.
- Working within a business with superb employee retention, providing career paths that encourage personal/ professional growth and development
- Competitive salary, and hybrid working after successful completion of probation
- Vibrant, collaborative culture where your ideas land quickly and visibly.
