The role
Part of the Finance, Infrastructure and Quality (FIQ) directorate team, the Information Security Manager is a dynamic and impactful role at Migrant Help. You will play an influential role in managing our security standards supporting over 500 staff and 1000’s of clients based across the UK. Working closely with the Head of Technology, Head of Quality and the commercial teams, you will continually seek ways and opportunities to improve the service provided to our staff and clients.

Role responsibilities
- To develop and maintain information security policies and accompanying performance standards, procedures and guidance, and providing input to the wider development of the information governance strategy and business planning process
- Develop relationships with internal stakeholders that promote and improve information security by developing and delivering against service level agreements in support of objectives across the charity
- Developing and implementing a security awareness and training programme, as well as a programme of planned compliance reviews and ensure any gaps are addressed
- Representing Information Security at internal and external audits.
- To investigate suspected and actual security incidents in accordance with the security incident management standard, produce reports with recommendations and ensure any remedial action is taken
- Propose appropriate investments in information security hardware, software, policies, processes and resources through influential written and verbal presentations
- Provide evidence-based information security advice to senior leadership team and relevant stakeholders through scheduled governance engagements and ad‑hoc requests
- Produce reports for appropriate oversight meetings, Information Asset Owners (IAOs) and the Senior Information Risk Owner (SIRO) as required
- Maintain currency with emerging security trends, risks, new guidance or standards (internal and external) and security enhancing technologies
- Coordinate the development of the Risk Management Accreditation Set (RMADS) and the annual accreditation processes
- Work closely with the Quality Team to ensure continued Information Security compliance and certification with Cyber Essentials/Plus and ISO27001 across all systems and services
- Provide active support to review, maintain and improve the Information Security Management System (ISMS), including resolving corrective actions relating to Information Security, monitoring IS performance, working towards IS objectives and analysing IS risks across the organisation
- Oversee and manage the work of the Information Security Officer
The experience and skills you need
- Experience designing and delivering security awareness programmes or training.
- Solid understanding of information security management systems (ISMS) and related frameworks such as ISO 27001 and related framework, NIST CSF, or Cyber Essentials Plus.
- Hands‑on experience leading or coordinating cyber or data breach incidents — including communication, forensics, and recovery.
- Ability to integrate security within digital transformation, IT change, or data strategy initiatives.
- Strong written and verbal communication & presentation skills, especially in risk reporting and incident summaries.
