Join the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI) as an Innovation and Research Policy Manager (Clinical). This pivotal role will drive policy and advocacy to enhance the UK’s global competitiveness in R&D and support the development of life-saving medicines and vaccines.
The ABPI exists to make the UK the best place in the world to research, develop, and access medicines and vaccines that improve patient care. It represents companies of all sizes that invest in discovering and manufacturing medicines and vaccines to enhance and save lives globally.
The Innovation and Research Policy Manager (Clinical) will support the development of and lead on policy advocacy and implementation of projects relating to enhancing pharmaceutical industry R&D in the UK. The post will focus on improving the international competitiveness of the UK environment for delivering clinical research to the pharmaceutical industry.
Main Responsibilities
- Support the development of ABPI’s policy work to enhance the UK's clinical trials environment, streamline industry access to research infrastructure, demonstrate the international standing of the UK’s clinical trials offering, and develop collaborations with funders, academia, charities, and research organisations;
- Contributing to and supporting innovation and research policy projects and activities across the portfolio; Leading the organisation of policy meetings, workshops, and forums, and delivering publications from outputs;
- Drafting written consultation responses, briefings, policy position papers and commissioning market research;
- Providing ABPI secretariat support for relevant member groups, including the Board Sponsored Group and Project Teams.
Key Skills and Experience
- Experience in research, innovation, or health policy - prior work in clinical research policy or strategy is advantageous but not essential, provided candidates can demonstrate adaptability and analytical strength;
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with proven ability to engage confidently with senior stakeholders across industry, government, and the wider health and research ecosystem.
