Overview
As an Intelligence Technical Officer in the Environment Agency’s National Environmental Crime Unit, you will build confidence and capability across area teams in intelligence-led ways of working and the use of intelligence systems to build a greater understanding of the Threat, Risk and Harm and drive a better approach to tackling environmental offending and protect officer safety.
Responsibilities
- Provide Memex training to area teams; promote the use and benefits of Memex and improve the quality of intelligence submitted.
- Provide face-to-face training on MEMEX; support area teams to submit intelligence and conduct searches.
- Supervise intelligence logs to ensure high standard of quality in submissions.
- Create entities from Memex submissions.
- Provide regular reports on performance and feedback on ways to improve performance.
- Ensure high standards of quality of intelligence submissions.
- Other duties commensurate with the role.
- Respond to incidents as required, including incident role, availability to respond, possible additional payment and training; flexible working arrangements to support incident role.
Team
The Intelligence Team manages and develops all criminal intelligence for the Environment Agency. The team builds relationships with partners to drive an intelligence-led approach to tackling environmental crime and provides a professional and timely service while continuously improving outcomes for customers.
Experience/skills Required
- Self-motivated and proactive with understanding of Intelligence and intelligence systems.
- Ability to advocate for an intelligence-led approach and embed across teams.
- Excellent influencing skills; ensuring Memex use is the norm and safety checks are mandatory.
- Ability to build strong, effective relationships.
- Ability to create and deliver engaging, effective and inclusive training.
- Excellent communication skills with ability to give feedback on intelligence submission performance.
- Strong self-management and organisational skills; great teamwork.
Contact and additional information
Location is flexible with a mix of home and office working; travel to Birmingham and other offices is required on occasions. Interviews via Microsoft Teams are expected in October.
