The Investment Implementation team is responsible for supporting Portfolio Managers with the implementation of their portfolios. This includes both retail and institutional equity strategies as well as Fund-of-Funds. The team acts as a key conduit between Portfolio Managers and other business areas such as Trading, Compliance, and Operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and analyse daily cash flows; communicate findings to relevant Portfolio Managers and compile trade lists in line with PM instructions, fund restrictions, client requirements, and current cash levels
- Generate orders for flow trading, single orders, and ECM activity
- Manage cash-related issues such as overdrafts, high cash balances, market settlement problems, and restricted currencies
- Monitor pre-trade compliance alerts within Charles River, investigating and clearing as required
- Review outstanding corporate actions, investigate tax issues, and ensure timely PM responses
- Analyse the impact of in-specie transfers on incoming/outgoing funds and prepare transition wish lists as required
- Provide support on projects such as fund launches, mergers, and new market processes
- Troubleshoot technology or data issues to ensure seamless portfolio implementation
- Respond to ad-hoc queries from Portfolio Managers, Trading, and other internal teams
- Conduct UAT systems testing for upgrades and new functionality; represent the department at internal meetings with Technology to drive enhancements
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Solid understanding of investments and a genuine interest in the investment process
- Experience within an investment management environment in investments, equity operations, or fund administration
- Investment Management Certificate (IMC) qualification, or willingness to complete within 6 months
- Strong PC skills, particularly Excel
- Excellent numeracy skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritise tasks within tight deadlines, and handle multiple assignments simultaneously
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organisation
