Overview
IT Business Analyst (Technology Solution Analyst). The CME Markets Technology team is looking for a Technology Solution Analyst to join the global Technology solutions and architecture team. The team provides technical analysis that drives the evolution and growth of CME's core trade execution systems that power our electronic trading platforms CME Globex, EBS Direct and BrokerTec Stream. Our systems need to be both low latency and highly reliable while continuously delivering new features. The role will initially focus on CME's Trade Dissemination and related systems, collaborating with business, operations, development and testing teams to provide creative solutions that meet business needs and maintain performance.
This role may be suitable for an experienced Technical Analyst moving from a Quality Assurance role into a Business Analyst position. Experience with messaging and relational databases is particularly relevant.
Responsibilities
- Perform execution delivery activities including impact analysis, requirements discovery, scenario creation, test distillation, functional and logical design, and other activities that empower the team to deliver.
- Create shared understanding and pressure-test ideas while preparing new features for production.
- Support elicitation, discovery, prototyping, and technical business analysis activities.
- Conduct project analysis such as detailed requirements or user story analysis.
- Define and describe data and mapping specifications, messaging protocols (JSON, FIX), and solution interfaces (Web APIs).
- Discover, define, and design detailed application behaviours, logic, data modelling, flows and mappings between components.
- Contribute to the product vision and impact assessment for new projects and enhancements.
- Develop acceptance criteria to support automated testing and behavior-driven development (BDD).
- Establish trusted working relationships with stakeholders, delivery teams and sponsors.
- Partner with Development and Quality Assurance on solution assessment and validation.
- Contribute to and maintain an evolving knowledge base.
Requirements and Qualifications
You would be a good fit if you have:
- 3-5 years of experience in business systems, quality assurance, architecture or related analysis.
- Experience in product development, SDLC, Agile methodologies and practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Prior experience in supporting and implementing technology-based projects.
- Ability to work with individuals at all levels of the organization as well as external customers and vendors.
- Strong facilitation, negotiation and influence skills.
- Excellent problem-solving mindset.
- A degree in business, information systems, computer science or similar (relevant experience could substitute).
Nice to Have
- Experience in Financial Markets (e.g., Futures, Options, Cash, OTC, exchange-based, FCM, brokerage, middle and back office, private equity, proprietary trading).
- Knowledge of financial products, electronic trading, order management, market data, clearing, or post-trade processing.
- Understanding of acceptance test driven development (ATDD), behavior driven development (BDD) or domain-specific language (DSL) automated testing.
- Experience with visual modeling, message design and flow, process modeling, and/or data modeling tools (FIX, SBE, GPB, FAST, XML).
- Knowledge of relational databases, XML, JSON, object-oriented programming languages, cloud-based integrations and tools.
- Experience using Atlassian products (e.g., JIRA, Confluence).
