Please note that this is a hybrid position based in Cardiff, requiring 3 days onsite each week, with the option for remote work on the remaining days.
The Rocket Science Group specialises in multiplayer, co-development, platform services, publishing technology, and live operations for console, PC and mobile titles. We have studio teams in Europe and North America and work in partnership with the game industry’s top creators.
About the role
We are looking for an IT Lead based in our Cardiff Studio, who is both hands-on and strategic with a passion for solving real world hardware and software challenges. In this role, you’ll draw upon your past experience to help us plan and roll out an IT strategy capable of supporting our growing organisation across the globe. You’ll work alongside our larger Workplace function to ensure that our internal teams have the equipment and tools they need to develop some of the biggest games in the world. You’ll also have the opportunity to work directly with our partners to meet the needs of individual projects, and learn from other teams in the company as they create and maintain video game tools and platforms.
What you'll do
- Ensure our global teams have the equipment they need to thrive in their roles (hardware and software).
- Support software licence and application lifecycles to support varied engineering and business workstreams such as 1Password and Github.
- Setup and manage critical infrastructure and systems.
- Define and champion IT standards for a fast-growing globally distributed studio.
- Support hardware (PC, Mac, Console Devkits etc).
- Establish and maintain a secure, scalable computing environment.
- Manage and improve our identity access management, remote access solutions and more.
- Install and manage AV and conference solutions for global collaboration.
- Create accessible, easy-to-use self-service IT documentation.
- Facilitate and conduct security audits (ISO27001, SOC2) annually and maintain ongoing compliance.
- Effectively communicate and liaise with both stakeholders and the wider business.
- Coach and mentor the IT Team while aligning IT with bigger business goals.
What we value

- Strong background in IT infrastructure, networking, and service desk operations.
- Experience managing collaboration platforms (Google Workspace, Slack, Zoom, Atlassian).
- A security-first mindset, with experience in compliance frameworks such as ISO27001 and SOC2.
- Experience with Information Technology Infrastructure Library frameworks.
- Ability to understand and adjust the needs of our teams’ evolving requirements.
- A willingness to embrace new challenges and the flexibility to adapt as needs evolve.
You may also have
- Experience working with centralised version control applications like Perforce, Git, etc.
- Experience using remote networking tools such as Parsec.
- Proficient in running and supporting office networks.
- History working with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
- Experience with Mobile Device Management (MDM) solutions.
- Experience with Rippling HRIS or SecureFrame.
- Automation or scripting skills (Bash, PowerShell, Python, etc.).
- Implemented low latency remote access solutions for desktops and consoles.
- And of course… a love for games!
