Overview
The IT Project Manager is a key member of the Information Technology team, reporting to the IT Technical Portfolio Project Manager. This role is responsible for the end-to-end delivery of complex technology projects across multiple disciplines—including software development, infrastructure, cloud, cybersecurity, and business transformation—ensuring alignment with organisational strategy and objectives.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of IT projects, ensuring they are completed within established timelines and budget constraints.
- Lead cross-functional teams, including IT, business analysts, developers, security, operations, and external partners.
- Efficiently manage project resources and budgets, optimising value and minimising waste.
- Maintain clear and effective communication with stakeholders, ensuring transparency and alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
- Leverage modern delivery frameworks, AI-driven tools, and best practices to drive successful project outcomes.
- Ensure all projects meet the latest security, regulatory, and compliance standards.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Adopt and Tailor Hybrid Delivery Approaches: Select and adapt the most suitable project delivery methodology (Agile, Waterfall, Lean, DevOps, or hybrid) for each project.
- Leverage AI and Automation: Utilise AI-powered project management tools for workflow automation, predictive analytics, and risk identification.
- Champion Sustainability: Integrate sustainability and green project management principles into project planning and execution.
- Apply ITIL 4 and Service Management Best Practice: Implement ITIL 4 principles to ensure service value and continuous improvement.
- Data-Driven Project Management: Use real-time data and analytics to inform decision-making and proactively manage risks.
- Enhance Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain transparent, real-time communication with all stakeholders using modern collaboration platforms.
- Embed Change Management: Integrate structured change management processes to support user adoption and minimise resistance.
- Ensure Cybersecurity and Compliance: Embed security and compliance requirements into all project phases.
- Continuous Learning and Improvement: Stay abreast of emerging project management trends, tools, and frameworks.
- Customise Frameworks for Sector Needs: Adapt delivery frameworks to the specific requirements of the legal sector, including confidentiality and regulatory compliance.
Maintain Core Project Management Duties
- Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans (scope, roles, responsibilities, budgets, timescales, resources).
- Translate business requirements into actionable project deliverables.
- Identify and automate business processes where possible.
- Liaise between business and IT to deliver technical solutions.
- Assign tasks and manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Ensure smooth handover to production and conduct post-project analysis.
- Provide regular communication to stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
- Identify, analyse, and manage project risks.
Person specification
- Able to deal with conflicting requirements
- Broad technical understanding and the ability to communicate with technical staff
- Excellent process mapping skills
- An understanding of the legal sector
- Proven project leadership skills
Required Technical Skills
- Experience delivering projects using project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, hybrid, etc.).
- PRINCE2 Foundation or Practitioner qualifications are highly desirable.
- Business Analysis qualifications are desirable.
- Experience with a diverse portfolio: application development, software configuration, infrastructure deployment, cloud, cybersecurity, office moves, etc.
- Strong IT Technical background across all Infrastructure platforms
- Desirable knowledge: iManage, SharePoint, Active Directory, Messaging, Virtualisation, LAN/WANs.
