Role Summary
Is the next step in your career at SMBC Group EMEA? We’re looking for a Secure Change and Automation Specialist within Information Security to join our team.
The Secure Change and Automation Specialist will ensure the continuity of security services and facilitate security control changes with a particular priority placed on building automated solutions to replace manual approaches wherever possible. This sucessful candidate will be a key member of the Security Engineering team and will play a vital part in the maintenance the security posture of the organisation.
This position is critical to the core business functions of the Bank, it requires a strong and broad technical skillset, exemplary communication skills and the capacity to effectively balance operational support and strategic project requirements.
Position Description
The Security Engineering team is responsible for the technical support and management of specific InformationSecurity elements of the Bank’s global IT platforms, supporting colleaguesto ensure the confidentiality, integrity and availability of the Bank’s systems and information. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:
- Foundational understanding of Information Security principles, such as network and infrastructure security principles.
- Foundational skills in scripting technologies for task automation, such as, but not necessarily including Powershell, Python etc.
- Basic understanding of Infrastructure as Code/Policy as Code.
- Strong inter-personal communication skills, able to liaise with key stakeholders and collaborate with colleagues.
- Ability to raise awareness and issues to management and suggest improvements
- Strong capability to produce clear documentation (Processes, reports, Knowledge articles).
Roles and Responsibilities:
Security Control Management
- Implement and manage security control configurations (Firewall rules, AV policies, Security Groups, etc).
- Manage security policy through automation and Infrastructure/Policy as code.
- Review and validate change requests for security control configurations.
- Integrate security solutions into new and existing pipelines across the business.
- Where required, provide support during weekends to support systems in the case of service outage, upgrades and other types of maintenance work.
- Ensure IT security systems are compliant with applicable regulations, policies, codes and industry guidance; defines standards and implements controls to remediate gaps.
Automation
- Support the automation of security control configuration changes and identify areas for improvement.
- Write scripts (Python, Bash, PowerShell etc) to automate repetitive security tasks.
- Encourage DevSecOps methodologies across the business to support improvements in infrastructure and application security.
Security Culture
- Provide oversight and guidance for colleagues across the wider technology group to promote a security first mindset across various strategic initiatives.
- Support existing security systems to provide effective levels of security to the business community and protecting the Banks assets.
- Develop written processes, clear documentation and knowledge sharing presentations to enhance productivity, cross skills and single points of failure throughout the team.
- The role sometimes requires individuals to work autonomously on time pressured activities such as completing tickets and managing response times.
- Positive attitude to proactive changes and to be able to adapt in order to work in a challenging regulatory environment.
- Occasional out of hours support.
