About The Role

We are recruiting for Senior Java Developers with experience in Java 21 to join a significant and complex project with the UK Government. This role offers an opportunity to work on high-impact initiatives within the public sector, contributing to the development of robust, scalable, and secure software solutions. The position is based in Leeds with a hybrid working model. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining microservice architectures, implementing APIs, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality code aligned with project requirements and standards.

Qualifications

• Strong Java development experience with Java 21
• Eligible to undergo SC Clearance (minimum of five years of residence in the UK)
• Solid understanding of test-driven development (TDD) and behavior-driven development (BDD)
• Experience with large microservice architectures and implementing APIs for internal and external consumption
• Desirable: MongoDB, Jackson, JAX-RS, mocking frameworks such as Mockito, messaging platforms like ActiveMQ or Kafka
• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (preferred)
• Proven experience in similar roles

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable microservice architectures using Java 21, ensuring high performance and security standards
• Implement RESTful APIs for internal and external use, facilitating seamless integration with other systems and platforms
• Participate in code reviews, ensuring adherence to best practices, coding standards, and quality assurance protocols
• Develop automated tests using TDD and BDD methodologies to ensure software reliability and maintainability
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product owners, testers, and other developers to deliver project milestones on time
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes, tools, and methodologies
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of system design, APIs, and development procedures
• Stay updated with the latest industry trends and incorporate innovative solutions to enhance project outcomes
