About The Role

We are currently seeking an experienced Java Developer with active Security Clearance (SC) to join a critical project within a renowned consultancy. This role offers the opportunity to work on a high-profile, business-critical program that demands technical excellence and strategic problem-solving skills. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable microservices and APIs, ensuring robust security and performance standards are met. The position is based in London with options for remote work, providing flexibility to accommodate the right candidate. The initial contract duration is six months, with potential for extension based on project needs.

Qualifications

• Active Security Clearance (SC).
• Proven experience as a Lead Java Developer, particularly within the public sector.
• Java (8/11/17+), with deep understanding of the language and core libraries.
• Spring Boot for building RESTful APIs and microservices.
• AWS services (EC2, S3, Lambda, IAM).
• Knowledge of Kafka or other messaging systems for event-driven architectures.
• SQL skills for relational databases and query optimization.
• Familiarity with Docker for containerization.
• Experience designing and consuming REST/JSON APIs.
• Strong communication skills to convey complex technical ideas to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and implementation of scalable microservices and APIs with a focus on security and best practices.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to architecture decisions.
• Integrate AWS cloud services into the application environment and optimize performance.
• Troubleshoot issues and mentor junior team members.
• Document technical specifications and maintain code quality standards.
• Communicate effectively to ensure milestones are achieved on time and within scope.
